Did you know that just outside the Louvois Garden, in Paris’s 2nd arrondissement, by turning left at the intersection of Rue de Richelieu and Rue Rameau—at number 69, right next to the Polène boutique—once stood Stendhal’s residence? It was here, in this modest Parisian apartment, that the writer drew his inspiration.

Each morning, he would wander through the streets of Paris, observing the city with a sharp eye and an ear attuned to the conversations around him. He then transformed these slices of everyday life into material for his works. It was in this very neighborhood that The Red and the Black, the famous novel known for its critique of ambition and human passions, is said to have been born.
