We are at the Jardin des Plantes, founded in 1635 by order of Louis XIII. At the time, it had a very specific name: the Royal Garden of Medicinal Plants. Its mission? To train the doctors and apothecaries of tomorrow.
This place was not reserved only for the elite. From the very beginning, it was open to the public for walks, but above all for the study of nature. With contributors like Buffon, André Thouin, and Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, it transformed into a world-renowned scientific institution.
