Reveries of the Palais- Royal: A journey through
Royal Residences <\/span><\/h4>\r\n

What if you could discover the royal heart of Paris in just a few steps? You will then pass by the church of Saint-Germain-l\u2019Auxerrois, the former parish of the kings of France, before heading up Rue de Rivoli and its Napoleonic arcades toward the Palais-Royal.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

At the Palais-Royal, built in 1629 for Cardinal Richelieu, you\u2019ll step into an open-air theater: palace, galleries, gardens, theater\u2026 Here lived Richelieu, Anne of Austria, the young Louis XIV, and the Dukes of Orl\u00e9ans. The site survived\r\n the Fronde, revolutions, looting, and fires, before becoming home to today\u2019s Council of State and Constitutional Council.<\/p>\r\n

The walk continues through Place Colette, the Com\u00e9die-Fran\u00e7aise\u2014the oldest theater troupe in France\u2014and then the Museum of Decorative Arts, before opening onto the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, a three-quarter replica of Rome\u2019s Arch\r\n of Constantine, ordered by Napoleon to celebrate Austerlitz.<\/p>\r\n

Finally, you\u2019ll cross the Tuileries Garden, the oldest public garden in Paris, marked by the ghosts of Catherine de\u2019 Medici and the eerie legend of Jean the Flayer\u2026 until the grand finale: the Louvre Museum, whose history spans from\r\n medieval fortress to world-renowned art temple.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n
